The Irish offense didn’t do a lot throughout their second drive, gaining simply 12-yards and being pressured to punt the ball again to Stanford. Their third drive was like their first, ending in a passing landing from quarterback Jack Coan.
The important thing to this drive was a Third-and-19 go play, as Coan discovered operating again Kyren Williams for 15-yards which gave the Irish a shorter fourth down try. They’d convert that, Coan discovering Kevin Austin to maneuver the chains and three performs later would discover the top zone. Coan threw his second landing of the day, this one to tight finish George Takacs because the Irish prolonged their lead, 14-0 over the Cardinal early within the second quarter.
