The Solar Bowl is again on.
After its initially scheduled opponent Miami dropped out due to a reported COVID-19 outbreak on the workforce, Washington State will now face Central Michigan within the Dec. 31 bowl. A day after Miami canceled, CMU misplaced its bowl opponent on Monday when Boise State needed to withdraw from the Arizona Bowl due to its personal COVID-19 outbreak.
With two groups in want of a bowl companion, it did not take lengthy for the pure conclusion to play out. The Arizona Bowl, with a streaming viewers and mixed payout of $350,000, is formally canceled. The Solar Bowl, with a nationwide TV viewers on CBS and a mixed payout of greater than $4.5 million is formally again on with the Chippewas now heading to El Paso, Texas.
Washington State, whose head coach Jake Dickert pleaded for an opponent Sunday evening, issued a press release Monday thanking the Solar Bowl and Central Michigan for making issues work.
