Crimson Tide Football opens up as an 8-point favorite over Texas

The Alabama Crimson Tide survived one of their toughest road games in recent memory this past season against the Texas Longhorns escaping with a 20-19 victory over their future SEC foe. The two sides will run it back in 2023 and it’s already one of the most highly-anticipated matchups for next season.

The Crimson Tide will be losing a lot of star talents to the NFL such as Bryce Young and Will Anderson while the Longhorns really only lose running back Bijan Robinson. Texas quarterback, Quinn Ewers, will be in his second season starting and looks to play himself into the 2024 NFL draft. The former five-star quarterback was on fire against the Tide before suffering a game-ending injury on a Dallas Turner tackle.

Despite the changes to both rosters, the Crimson Tide will open as 8-point favorites against the Longhorns according to On3sports. Alabama has a lot of production to backfill between Young and Jahmyr Gibbs, but for the line to be over a touchdown should make the Tide faithful feel a bit more comfortable.

Whether it is Jalen Milroe or Ty Simpson, the Alabama offense will be in good hands and they’ll be up for the task on September 9. According to Fan Duel, the early line is set at (-8)
